This is one of the Academy's earliest reports. We are not confident that these early reports are accurate. Please use it with caution.

Greetings,

Here is the information we found on Irish women's names.

Although we don't have a list of 13th-century Irish womens' names, we do have a list of 12th-century Irish women's names. Although this isn't perfect, it does provide a reasonably close match. The URL for the list is

http://www.itd.umich.edu/~ximenez/s.gabriel/docs/irish-obrien.html

If you'd like to look through a larger list which covers a broader span of times, you can look at "Irish Names" by O'Corrain & Maguire, which is the standard SCA source for Irish names. When looking for a name from the 13th century, avoid any names which are specifically described as "early" or "late."

The proper pronunciation of "Liadain" is ""LEE-ah-dañ" (with the "ñ" being a palatalized "n").

Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn and Effric neyn Kenyeoch vc Ralte contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
