Academy of Saint Gabriel Report 183

This report is available at http://www.s-gabriel.org/183

This is one of the Academy's earliest reports. We are not confident that these early reports are accurate. Please use it with caution.

Greetings,

Here is the information we found on your 15th-century Italian name, "Violante di Neri."

You mentioned that you were looking for documentation that was "acceptable to SCA heralds." Any reliable secondary source, and any primary source, are acceptable sources of documentation in the SCA. In fact, if you're using sources that we're not aware of, we'd like to know about them so that we can also use them.

We did find references for both "Violante" and "Neri" from 15th-century Italy, and we have no doubt that this is a completely accurate name for your period. Both names are common throughout Italy, but "Violante" (a translation of the French name "Iolanda") is more common in the south and "Neri" is most common in Emilia-Romagna.

Arval D'Espas Nord, Lindorm Eriksson, Evan da Collureo, and Elsbeth Anne Roth contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
