Greetings,
Here's the information we found on the name "Elina."
The only place we found actual examples of the name "Elina" was in Norway, where it was one of many variant spellings of "Helena." Dated references include 1479, 1381, 1439, and 1348. (1)
"Helen/Ellen/HelenáElena" was a fairly common name across Western Europe. Although we didn't find the specific variant "Elina" in any other language, we feel reasonably sure that it could have existed in any number of languages in Western Europe.
If you could tell us more about the name and about the culture you're interested in having a name from, we could attempt to find more information about naming practices in a specific culture. If you're still considering what culture to focus on, you may find our article on "Under-Represented SCA Cultures" helpful. The URL is

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
