Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Marion de Pax Ford" as a 14thcentury English name.

We found "Paxford" in "The Origin of English Surnames" by P.H. Reaney, which said that the name came from the Old English "Paecci's ford." The book didn't give a date or any medieval forms (although it's obviously a medieval name since it derives from Old English). If you found a specific dated reference for "Pax Ford," you may have more information about the name than we do.

We're pretty sure that "Pax Ford" is a reasonable form of the placename "Paxford." If you can tell us exactly where you found your information on the name, we will be able to give you a more accurate assessment. Dated examples of medieval names are generally the best documentation you can get, but we can't give an absolute until we know exactly what you're using.

Arval D'Espas Nord and Solveig Throndarsdottir contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful, and that we will be able to continue assisting you.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
