Greetings,

Here's the information we found on "Danielle," which you wanted to use as a Gaelic name.

We found no sign that there was any Gaelic form of "Danielle." We found 8th-century examples of the name "Daniél," but our source (1) says that it was used only by priests and monks--which makes it unlikely that any feminine form of the name was ever used.

"Danielle" was originally French, and wasn't used in English until the 1940's. (2) Since names from continental Europe generally were used in English before they were used in Irish, we very much doubt that any form of "Danielle" would be found in period Ireland.

Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn and Arval D'Espas Nord contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
