Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Rabi'ah."

"Rabi'ah" is an appropriate name for an Egyptian woman from the 12th century; by that time, Arabic was the universal language of Egypt, even among non-Arabs. There was a system of armory in Egypt which was different from the European system of the time, but no women bore arms in it. On the other hand, many people whose personas would not have borne arms use them in the SCA; it depends on your approach to your persona. We have a Web page discussing the options for people with non-armorial personae at

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
