Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Demetrius Baldassar."

Although this name is found in Italy, you could document it in most European cultures if you're willing to be flexible about the spelling. "Demetrius" is the Latin form of "Demetrios," the name of a 4th-century martyr. Baldassar (in English and German, "Balthasar") was the legendary name of one of the wise men who visited Jesus.

Although "Demetrius Baldassar" is a possible Italian form of your name, the most common Italian form is "Demetrio Baldassari." There are other languages in which the usual form is closer to what you want. Since you didn't sound especially attached to Italian, you might like to know about other versions of your name. If you let us know what other langauges you're interested in, we can send you information on your name in those languages.

Since the Baldassar name was used in so many different places, there's no single set of arms for "the Baldassar family." There are probably many unrelated Baldassar families with arms, and many more Baldassar families without arms. If you are interested in using a coat of arms attributed to someone named Baldassar, you could do this--but there's no connection between people named Baldassar and any single set of arms.

Arval D'Espas Nord, Walraven van Nijmege, Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn, and Hartmann Rogge all contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful, and that we can continue to assist you in the future.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
