Here's the information we found about the name "Lachlann."

The name "Lachlann" actually comes from the Irish name for Scandinavia. The more standard Irish form is "Lochlainn." It's a perfectly good Irish given name, but it has no connection with war.

However, you could use the Gaelic description "cathach," which does mean "warlike." The name "Lochlainn Cathach" would be appropriate for around the 12th century; if you're interested in other periods, we can give you information on the form for any period.
