Here's the information we found about the name "Lochlyn Wick of Brindlemyre."

Before you read this letter, we recommend that you read the Web page "Scottish Names 101," which gives background information on Scottish names that will make understanding our comments much simpler. The URL is

We found numerous examples of the Gaelic name "Lochlainn." There are many spelling variants, but none of them use a "y." The spelling "Lochlan" is the closest plausible form to the one that you asked about.

We did find a Scots place called "Wick." It was spelled

<Vik> 1140
<Wick> c.1375
<Weke> 1455 (1)

We didn't find any references to "Brindlemyre," but it sounds like it could be a medieval placename. If you could send us more information about where you found it, we may be able to track it down.
