Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Meredith."

"Meredith" is a Welsh name commonly spelled "Maredudd" in Welsh. There are many references to it, in a wide variety of spellings--the earliest citation is 998.

While there is no question that nearly all the people named "Meredith" in period were Christians, the name itself does not originate in any Christian text nor does it contain a specifically Christian reference. We did not find any saint named "Meredith."

Depending on what exactly you need, we may be able to help you further. If you let us know what you're looking for, we can look for other information that may be useful.

Arval Benicouer, Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn, Margaret Makafee, and Lindorm Eriksson contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful, and that we can continue to assist you.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
