Greetings,

Here's the information we found out about the Arabic name "Qamara."

We didn't find any examples of "Qamara" in any of our sources. There is a male name "Qamar" which is used occassionally. It's possible, but not certain, that there could have been a female name "Qamara" which was never recorded.

If you're willing to use a merely hypothetical name, you could use "Qamara." Our sources for Arabic names, especially women's names, are so few that we don't want to discount the possibility that "Qamara" was used but not recorded. If you want to be sure you have an actual medieval name, we would recommend using something else. In addition to the names on our Web site, we have found "Khemisa" and "Khuram." (1)

Da'ud ibn Auda, Talan Gwynek, and Arval D'Espas Nord contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

In service,
