Here's the information we found on the name "Lackey."

"Lackie" (the common spelling) is a nickname for the Scottish Gaelic name "Lachlann." The earliest example from our most thorough sources is "Lachie" from 1627. (1) "Lachie" would be appropriate for the late 16th century, but the spellings "Lackie" and "Lackey" are probably modern.
