Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Khyrian."

As far as we can tell, this isn't a name in any European language. We did find a Russian name "Kirian," but in Russian "K" and "Kh" are totally different sounds. ("K" is pronounced as in most Western languages, while "Kh" is similar to the German "ch" in "Bach.") Thus, it's unlikely that "Khyrian" is a variation on "Kirian."

It is conceivable that <Khyrian> is an Armenian last name, since these often end in <-ian>. It does not appear in our one source for Armenian surnames, but that source isn't exhaustive. But even if it is an Armenian name, it would be a last name only.

If you saw this as a first name, it's most likely that someone else invented the name independently of you. Because all reliable name books concentrate on one language, it's difficult to do a search without someplace to start.

Talan Gwynek, Arval Benicoeur, AElfwynn aet Gywrum, and Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful, and that we can continue to assist you.

Sincerely,
Alan Terlep
