Some of the Academy's early reports contain errors that we haven't yet corrected. Please use it with caution.

Greetings,

Here's the information we found on "Frederique," which you'd like to use as a French name from between 800 and 1450.

We didn't find any women's names based on "Frederic" in French at any point in period. "Frederic" is a male name, and it wasn't feminized until modern times.

However, we did find a number of women's names starting with "Fred-" which were used in France roughly until 1000. Any of these would be appropriate for the earlier part of your period. (1)

Each of these names has variant forms. In particular, names ending in "-is" could also be used without the "-is" ending (so that "Fredesindis" could also be "Fredesind.")

Talan Gwynek and Arval Benicoeur contributed to this letter.

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
