I know this sounds like a job for a RISC OS computer but RISC OS > file serving is only one of the things it will be doing. This is all done transparently (to RISC OS) in LanMan98 and works very nicely. The filenames look rather ugly at the other end, i.e. on the PC, but it doesn't really matter. All you need is a smb server on the Linux box and the appropriate network settings on each RiscPC (I think you will have to use TCP/IP transport as opposed to NetBEUI). You can also set up IP masquerading on the linux box if you want the RiscPCs to be firewalled off from the internet (or even if you want to share a dial-up account or T1 or whatever). This is the setup I have in my office here. Regards, Ian. -- Ian Giblin ** NOTE: You need to edit my email ** http://www.pennoyer.net/ian/ ** address manually to send me mail **
