Tips for Temps: The Temporary Task Force of Northern
New Jersey
The Temporary Task Force of Northern New Jersey, under the leadership
of employment consultant Barrie Peterson and affiliated with the
Bergen Employment Action Project (BEAP), is now distributing the third
issue of their "Consumer Guide to Best Practice Temp Agencies of NJ."
This is a guide for prospective temps, not for the corporate consumers
of agency services; I guess they felt that "workers' guide" sounded a
little too lefty for the agencies. I have talked with Mr. Peterson
and seen some of the preliminary work, and I'd imagine that this new
guide will be a valuable resource for temps in northern New Jersey.
The third issue of the guide includes reviews of 29 agencies across
North and Central New Jersey, plus a four-page legal rights guide.
Temp Worker Gatherings are held on the first Monday of the month at
5:30 PM for exchange of information, mutual support and planning
advocacy.
