Hi there. Welcome to my home page. The purpose of these pages is to tell the world a little bit about who I am on both professional and personal levels. Professionally, I describe myself as a software engineer who prefers to work in Unix networked environments on primarily commercial products. My specialty is in "white box testing", which means that I prefer to know how the target software system is structured and design my tests to probe places in the software most prone to break. Besides Unix perl and shell scripting, I have also written tests in PostScript and PCL print languages. In addition to testing, I have developed software in C and Java.
Personally, I am primarily a philosopher, but
I haven't decided what kind of philosopher. fnord. Currently, my
primary hobby is the study of history - architectural history and the
history of urban planning, history of the intellectual development of
Europe, history of technology, art history, and regional Southern California
history, etc. Besides history,
I enjoy hiking in the Angeles National Forest, and the study of plants
native to the mediterranean climatic region of California. I enjoy music
of all kinds, but my main interest
is in vocal or instrumental music based on pentatonic scales, or music that
uses subtle changes in pitch to evoke a mystical or psychedelic sound.
Most Arabic, North African, Balkan, Indian, and some Celtic music falls
into this category. There were a number of 80's rock bands like XTC or
the Rain Parade that also fall into this category.
