After a recount, Judge Lopez Torres won by 102 votes. Her opponent challenged this result and lost in Queens Supreme Court, but won an appeal in the Appellate Division, which ordered the counting of some previously disqualified ballots. Judge Lopez Torres won the court-ordered recount by 205 votes and was the Democratic candidate in the November 8 General Election!
