At the VCF 9.0 which was held on Nov. 4 & 5, 2006, there was a 30th anniversary celebration of the original Apple computer.

Vintage Macs - aka Legacy Macs - had serial ports (as did the Apple II)
• 68K MACS: the original Macs with 68000 series Motorola processor chips.
• "OLD WORLD" POWER MACS:
  The "old world" PowerMacs with 601, 603, or 604 IBM chips. They were informally designated as G1 or G2, as follows:.
  • G1: 601 PowerMacs - the first generation of PowerMacs
  • G2: 603 and 604 PowerMacs - the second generation of PowerMacs. Sometimes included in this category are the early beige G3 models with serial ports.
