I've been giving Mozilla Firebird a whirl, and it may be good enough now for me to switch to it. It's fast, uncluttered, and compact, and it looks cool.

AskTog writes about Fitts's Law. I've always found it surprisingly difficult to navigate hierarchical menus in Windows, and this explains why. The Listen.com Rhapsody client can pop up a mini-player when the cursor is in one of the top two corners. Fitt's law explains why this works so well. Personally, I think we should do this for Scopeware Vision.

Joel Spolsky notes that "Interesting things are going on in the browser front." Soon it may be time for me to switch to another browser. I've been using Mozilla as my primary browser for months now, tired as I was of closing pop-up windows. The key moment came when Mozilla started to support the Alt+D shortcut. Of course, once I switched and started using tabbed browsing, I could never go back. I wish Mozilla could do a few of the things that IE does, such as moving the toolbars next to each other, so I can use more of the screen for the web page. I also don't like Mozilla's bulk. So, when Mozilla Firebird reaches stability, I'll be switching.
