One of the many tunnels in Werk Gschwinde. The tunnels are quite extensive; it takes a couple of hours to look thru the whole fort. It is quite chilly and damp. Soldiers were stationed here for months at a time, stuck underground in these very dismal tunnels. They often could not make a fire, even in winter, for fear that the smoke would make the fort obvious to bombers.
