Ticks?? YES ticks--both deer and dog ticks! THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE TICK. The following precautions should be taken so they don't ruin our fun: wear light colored clothing, long pants (especially when walking in woods), stay on the trail when hiking, tuck pant legs into socks, use insect repellent, and check frequently for ticks on yourself and others (with permission naturally). The smaller deer ticks can cause lyme disease, but only if they remain on your body for 24 hours or more.

To go on a camping, you must be a member. You can mail us your dues or pay it at the site. One year's membership costs $12 for an individual or $18 for a family ($8/individual or $12/family if you receive the newsletter by e-mail). Worthington State Park, Columbia, NJ
Camp on a group site by the Delaware River. Swim, boat or fish right from the campsite. Hikers can climb up the Appalachian Trail to Sunfish Pond, an unspoiled glacial lake, or visit the Mohican Outdoor Center nearby. Chemical toilets by the site, flush toilets and showers in another part of the park. Quiet hours are 10 P.M. to 6 A.M. Limited to 30 people. NO CALLS BEFORE JUNE 23.
Saturday, July 8, Neysa's 2nd Annual Pool Party, Staten Island, NY (rain date - Sat. July 22)
Come for an all day/night outdoor party with music, homemade food, refreshing drinks and toasted marshmallows from Neysa's outdoor wood burning fireplace. You'll get to meet new people, talk about your interests and share stories of past camping trips. It is an enjoyable, relaxing day not to be missed. If you like New Jersey Pine Barrens come to this campground where you can swim, fish or rent boats on Lake Absegami. Bicycle or hike on sand roads, or hike the Batona Trail. Wharton State Forest and historic Batsto Village are a short drive away. NO CALLS BEFORE JULY 7.

Tobyhanna State Park, Monroe PA
Tobyhanna State Park is located in the Pocono Mountains. Nearby attractions include: Lake Wallenpaupack, one of the largest man-made lakes in Pennsylvania; Big Pocono State Park at the top of Camelback Mountain; and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. You can relax on the beach, bike, boat, fish, swim or hike the woodland area of the 170-acre Tobyhanna Lake. Outhouses. Strictly limited to 20 people. NO CALLS BEFORE JULY 21.

Swartswood State Park, Newton, NJ
Hike around, or swim in Lake Swartswood. The park also rents canoes, rowboats and paddleboats, and the lake is stocked with fish. We've reserved a shady group site that holds 20 people. Outhouses at the site, flush toilets and showers at the lake. NO CALLS BEFORE JULY 28.
Saturday, August 12, Day/Evening Beach Picnic, Smith Point County Park, Suffolk County, NY
We're going to have a barbecue-picnic near the beach from morning till night. We'll walk along the shore, frolic in the sand, play games or sing songs in the moonlight after we fill our tummies with delicious charcoal grilled goodies. Smith Point, a very popular haven for beach lovers, is accessible by car and is located near the eastern end of Fire Island National Seashore. Get there early to get a good picnic spot. August 18-20, Hidden Lake Group Campsite, Bushkill PA
THE LAKE IS BACK. Deep within the Delaware National Recreation Area, we've reserved the only campsite at Hidden Lake. Hike and swim at the site, take in the vistas at Bushkill falls, or recreate at the Delaware River four miles away. Outhouses. NO CALLS BEFORE AUGUST 11.
August 25-27, Coca-Cola State Park, Compaq NJ
Explore New Jersey's newest and most convenient state park. Swimming,
hiking, fishing, boating, shopping. In addition to the mall in the park, Wal-Mart and Filene's Basement are nearby. Purchase the latest camping fashions

September 1-4, Labor Day Weekend,
Hickory Run State Park, White Haven, PA
Our group site extends deep into the forest. Sit by a tranquil stream less than one mile from the site. Lake swimming, excellent fishing, 30 miles of hiking trails, Boulders' Field (a National Natural Landmark), and all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts at the Hickory House. Outhouses by the site, flush toilets and showers by the lake. NO CALLS BEFORE AUGUST 25.
September 15-17,
Fahnestock State Park, Carmel, NY
In the rugged Hudson Highlands, Fahnestock is dotted with lakes and criss-crossed by hiking trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. Constitution Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, run by National Audubon Society, is nearby. Flush toilets and hot showers. NO CALLS BEFORE SEPTEMBER 8.
