Campers' Group Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are we a singles group?
No. Singles, couples and families are welcome.
What is the age range of the people in the group?
Ages vary from 6 months to 65 years.
What do we do on these weekends?
Some bring their lounge chairs and books, others their hiking boots and
day packs. We swim, canoe, hike, jog, play scrabble, sing, play musical
instruments, go dancing, and roast marshmellows around the campfire.
Do I need a tent?
Not on your first trip. We have several small tents that you may use to see
if you like camping. You must supply your own tent on subsequent trips.
How is transportation arranged?
To go on a camping trip, call one of its leaders from Sunday to Wednesday
of the week before the trip; for cabin trips call several weeks before. The
trip leaders refer riders to drivers to make individual arrangements. The
driver should inform the passengers how the fare will be determined before
the trip; fares are not fixed because costs vary by car and distance. If
you need a ride or want to take passengers, please call early. Rides are
usually available but aren't guaranteed.
Can I bring my children?
On most trips yes, but check with the coordinators - some accomodations
aren't suitable for children or infants. If your kids rise early in the
morning, please play with them quietly until most people get up. Kids
are charged the full rate.
Can I bring a pet?
No. Wild animals live near campsites. They respect and fear
humans, but not your pet. For your pet's safety, leave it with a friend.
Is there a campers' etiquette?
Yes. Here is a short list:
- Obey the rules of the park you're visiting.
- Be quiet during quiet hours (usually 10 PM to 7 AM).
- Don't harm the vegetation; only use down wood for campfires.
- Treat wild animals with respect, but don't feed them.
- Don't leave garbage or food scraps out overnight.
- Use other people's equipment only with permission.
- If you must bring a radio, bring headphones.
- Leave the campsite and picnic tables clean.
