A family campsite in a New Jersey state park generally costs $10 per night. Group sites are much less expensive (75 cents or $1 per person per night, minimum 7 people), but group sites won't have flush toilets and showers.

In the New Jersey Pine Barrens, the park has a lake for swimming and boating, hiking trails, family and group campsites, and a Nature Center.
Belleplain State Forest, Woodbine, NJ
In southern New Jersey, the park has hiking and swimming and is near New Jersey's southern beaches and Cape May.
Bull's Island Recreation Area, Stockton, NJ
The recreation area is an island in the Delaware River. There are family campsites, a nature trail and excellent access to the river.
Cheesequake State Park, Matawan, NJ.
The park is in the transitional zone between New Jersey's northern and southern vegetation types. You'll find open fields, salt and fresh water marshes, white cedar swamp, pine barrens and hardwood forests.
High Point State Park, Sussex, NJ.
In the northwest corner of the state, the park consists of northern forests. There are trails for hiking and biking and a lake for swimming. Family and group campsites.
Jenny Jump State Forest, Hope NJ
A park on a small mountain in a northern New Jersey forest has hiking trails, a lake for boating and fishing, an astronomical observatory and views of the nearby valleys and the Delaware Water Gap. There are family and group campsites.
A large park in northwest New Jersey is heavily wooded and contains several lakes. There are 25 hiking trails including 6.5 miles of the Appalachian Trail. You get a great view from the top of Sunrise Mountain. There are cabins, family campsites and group campsites.
Swartswood State Park, Newton, NJ
A medium-sized park in northwest New Jersey. The main attraction is Swartswood Lake, where you can swim, boat or fish. Rowboats and canoes are rented.
Wharton State Forest, Hammonton NJ
A huge park in the New Jersey Pine Barrens includes pine forests, flood plains, swamps and lakes (mostly undeveloped land), Batsto Village (a reconstructed bog iron and glassmaking center), and 25 miles of the Batona Trail.
Mohican Outdoor Center, Blairstown, NJ
Cabins, hiking trails and beautiful Catfish Lake are on this property. The lake is great for swimming or boating. The Appalachian trail passes through here. Operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club.
Worthington State Forest, Columbia, NJ
A hardwood forest, next to the Delaware River, that contains a glacial lake - Sunfish Pond. Several hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail, cross the park. There are family campsites, group sites and backpacking sites.
