We're a volunteer-run club that organizes camping and cabin
trips. Based in New York City, our destinations are usually
within a three-hour drive of the Big Apple (NYC). We welcome singles,
couples and families, experienced campers and newbies, to
join us on these outings.
Friday, December 13, Night Out, Rocky Sullivans, Red Hook in Brooklyn NY
A friend of Campers' Group, Michael, and his band The Famous Geniuses, will play mostly original Swing Blues, Rock and Rockabilly music. Good food, great music, no cover charge. Show times are at 8:30 and 10 pm. Two unique sets will be played. You will not be sorry.
Saturday, December 28, Dinner and Movie, Talk of the Town, Allendale NJ
We will meet at the popular Allendale Bar and Grill for dinner and drinks at 6pm. After dinner we will only need to walk around the corner to be treated to a private screening of a PG-rated 3D movie, in an intimate state-of-the-art theater at Talk of the Town, the tri-state area's most advanced audio/video showroom!
Park in Talk of the Town's parking lot, and walk around the corner to the restaurant.
If you want to attend, please call Ken, or email him your phone number, so he can provide more details for this special event. There will be no admittance to the movie screening if Ken is not able to speak with you beforehand.
January 17-20, Cabin/X-country Ski Trip, Old Lard's Bed and Breakfast, Osceola NY
We will be traveling to upstate NY, and a prime area known for deep snow. The Tug Hill Plateau, west of the southern Adirondacks, is said to receive the most US snowfall east of the Rockies! The Osceola Tug Hill Ski Center boasts having 25 miles of daily groomed cross-country ski trails, and the largest selection of cross-country ski equipment in NY State. 20% off the trail fee for groups of 10 or more! The ski center only offers cross-country skiing, but snowshoeing is possible nearby. There are several other cross-country ski and snowshoe trails in the expansive Winona State Forest, and in the Black River Environmental Improvement Association (BREIA) area, both a 45-minute drive from the ski center.
Although we strive to provide detailed information, you are responsible to research the event, become familiar with the area, and bring the proper gear.
We'll be staying nearby in a comfortable local farm house. (The x-c ski center is about 10 minutes away.) There are 4 to 5 bedrooms available with a double bed in each. One room has an extra cot, and 2 others have extra room for a sleeping bag. Everyone will have access to a fully equipped kitchen. You should stay all three nights if possible, because Osceola is further than most of our destinations. RSVP with your payment of $120 by Paypal, or with a $116 check made payable to Campers' Group (mailed to 575 Grand St. #E-1605, NYC 10002). Then e-mail or call the event host/trip leader to confirm your bed or room, and for other information.
Join us for a 2 or 3-day weekend in New Paltz, NY. In nearby Minnewaska State Park, there are groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails with incredible vistas of the Shawangunk Ridge. We will stay at the New Paltz Hostel. New Paltz is a college town with eateries, cafes and live music. The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail crosses Main St. and continues 12 miles south to Gardiner. You can rent cross-country skis and snow shoes in town. If you don't know how to cross-country ski, we can show you the basics.
If you want to go on this trip, you MUST contact the New Paltz hostel at (845) 255-6676 and reserve your own lodging. If the hostel fills up, we can suggest area motels that are suitable alternatives.
Public transportation is also available. The hostel is on Main St. in New Paltz right next to a Trailways bus station.
