There are very limited provisions at Sandy Hook. Please have everything you need before arriving on the island. As this will be our first time in this campground we may not be able to answer all your questions. Pets are not allowed on our sites. You are encouraged to visit this Sandy Hook website for any questions you may have. Also, find information on the latest alerts and conditions here. Please note that we cannot control the weather, traffic, rare beach closings, or the occasional wait to get into a crowded park on the weekends. We strongly recommend that you arrive on Thursday or Friday, and early!

RSVPs are per tent, not per person. To reserve a spot, send a check for $62 made out to Campers‘ Group, to: Campers’ Group, 48 S. High Street Mt. Vernon, NY 10550. August 11-13, Camping Trip, October Mountain State Forest, Lee MA
We are returning to the beautiful Berkshires, and camping conveniently near Lenox, a small but vibrant New England town nestled in the heart of Western Massachusetts. This region has rural beauty and major cultural attractions, including Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which attract thousands annually. At 16,500 acres, October Mountain is the largest state forest in Massachusetts. Here we can camp, hike, paddle, and even bike nearby country roads. Trails are available for every level of experience, and include the famous Appalachian Trail . One of the most scenic trails leads through Schermerhorn Gorge, a striking natural feature which has intrigued generations of geologists. Countless varieties of wild plants and animals can be found throughout the varied terrain of this vast forest. Bring your kayak or rent at the local Arcadian Shop. A fun paddling experience could be on the Housatonic River. If you rent, you can be dropped off at the Decker Landing put-in on New Lenox Rd and picked up at the Woods Pond Bridge take-out, close to the campground. This section is easy flat water, 4.6 miles, and 2-3 hours. See page 33 of the guide.
Saturday evening, we will travel to Tanglewood, about a 10 minute drive from the campground. Lawn Tickets are approx. $21, and free for children and young people age 17 and younger. Bring food, wine, a lawn chair or blanket, and join us as we picnic under the stars and listen to the relaxing sounds of symphony music!
RSVPs are per tent, not per person. To reserve a spot, send a check for $27 made out to Campers‘ Group, to: Campers’ Group, 48 S. High Street Mt. Vernon, NY 10550. August 25-27, Camping Trip, Promised Land State Park, Canadensis PA
We will be camping at six (6) of the many wooded sites near the lake in the Pickerel Point camping area. Walk or drive to the beach and swim, or rent a canoe/kayak/rowboat and tool around Promised Land Lake. The ambitious can bicycle around the lake or explore the Bruce Lake Natural Area. The rest of us may follow the self-guided nature trail around Conservation Island. The campground has new facilities - hot showers and flush toilets. Each site has been graded with gravel, and accommodates only 2 tents each, so please share if possible. This recently redesigned campground also has newly paved and mostly assigned parking. One (1) parking space is assigned to each campsite, in the small lot by our campsite group. Overflow parking is within walking distance on the campground peninsula. Carpooling is recommended.

September 1-4, Camping Trip, Rip Van Winkle Campground, Saugerties NY
Join us for camping and hiking in the Catskills! We have reserved two large group sites that contains campfire rings, on-site water, charcoal BBQ grills, multiple picnic tables, and a large canopy set up over the tables. With 160 wooded acres, an entire mile of frontage on the Plattekill Creek, a swimming hole, koi ponds, a stocked bass pond, children’s activities, a camp store, handicapped accessible bathroom and shower facilities, this campground has most everything a camper could ask for. Located near excellent hiking in the Catskill mountains, it is also just a 10 minute drive to Saugerties and 15 minutes to Woodstock NY.

RSVPs are per tent, not per person. Sharing and carpooling is encouraged! When you RSVP, you are paying for all 3 nights - the only choice available. The payment of $84 is for one tent with one person, which will cover the cost to camp with the group for the weekend. The campground prices have been significantly raised, and will be more costly to our group, but Campers‘ Group will be covering some of the cost to allow this trip to be more affordable to it’s members. If you will have more than one person in your tent, we ask you to please contribute an additional amount, whatever you can afford, for each additional person when paying for your tent space. Campground pricing for additional adults: $10/night, children ages 3-17 $5/night, and ages 2 and under are free. They also charge $24/night for each additional tent. During the weekend, we may split the cost of firewood, if needed.

To reserve a tent spot, send a check for $84 made out to Campers‘ Group, to: Campers’ Group, 48 S. High Street Mt. Vernon, NY 10550. Once the organizer or a trip leader is notified of receipt of your check, you will be added to the RSVP list. For immediate inclusion, pay $86.74 via PayPal on the meetup.com page for this trip.

September 8-10, Camping Trip, Woodland Valley Campground, Phoenicia NY
Be prepared for a great hiking weekend! In the heart of the Catskills, Woodland Valley is a narrow rugged valley surrounded by some of the region’s highest peaks: Panther, Slide, Cornell and Wittenburg. The campground serves as the trail-head for both the Slide-Wittenberg Trail (the Burroughs Range) and Valley-Denning Trail (which provides access to the Giant Ledge-Panther Mountain Trail). Please understand that to participate, you MUST be prepared with appropriate hiking boots, clothing, water, food, and know your own hiking ability. This area has significant elevation, so even if the distance does not seem great, the hikes may be more strenuous than others you may be used to with less elevation change. This is a car-camping trip with easy access to the campsites, not a backpacking trip. The campground is a 20 minute drive from Phoenicia, and 40 min from Woodstock. We have reserved small sites - only 2 tents are allowed per site. Find the campground map here. Quiet hours are 10 P.M. to 7 A.M. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the campground.
To reserve a spot, send a check for $31.50 made out to Campers‘ Group, to: Campers’ Group, 48 S. High Street Mt. Vernon, NY 10550. Once the organizer or a trip leader is notified of receipt of your check, you will be added to the RSVP list. For immediate inclusion, pay $32.66 via PayPal on the meetup.com page for this trip.
