The Bull's Island Recreation Area (79 acres) is part of the Delaware and Raritan Canal Park (3,578 acres). You can drive on a bridge to the island, which contains family campsites, a boat launch and a nature trail.

River craft (canoes, tubes, kayaks, rafts) can be rented three miles north in Point Pleasant. You can also fish in the river. The larger park contains a 30-mile multi-use trail along an old railroad be that parallels the Delaware-Raritan Canal. (Bicycles can be rented in Stockton.)

The family campground has flush toilets and hot showers. Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM. Not pets, no alcohol.

Driving directions: From the Holland Tunnel, take the NJ Turnpike to exit 14. Then get on Interstate 78 West to exit 15 in New Jersey. Follow the signs to Route 513 South. At Frenchtown, take Route 29 South. The park entrance will be on your right.
