Constitution Marsh Audubon Center & Sanctuary

Constitution Marsh Audubon Center & Sanctuary
Garrison, NY

270 acres of tidal marsh adjacent to the Hudson River. The National Audubon Society manages the property for NY State. They maintain a visitor center with exhibits, and they give free canoe trips to explain the ecology of the marsh (reservations required). They're open to guests from May through October.

You can't stay here overnight, but you can camp nearby in Fahnestock State Park.

Driving directions: Take the Taconic Parkway to New York Route 301 West to Cold Spring. At the end of 301, turn left onto New York Route 9D South. On 9D, make your first right after the Boscobel Restoration to Indian Brook Road and drive half a mile to the parking area. (Parking is limited - only 8-10 cars can fit.) Walk on a dirt road down the hill to the visitor center.
