Walkway over the Hudson State Historic Park

From our most recent newsletter: We will cross the big river by way of the Walkway over the Hudson State Historic Park, and the Mid-Hudson Bridge, to complete the 3.6 mile Walkway Loop Trail. The Walkway bridge is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. (The moderately fit can add a 2.5 mile hike to the day in the adjacent Fanny Reese State Park) After the walk or hike, you can join us for dinner at a local restaurant. Later on, the brave ones will take the short drive over to Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses for a very scary evening! (If interested, check with Sue on exact entrance time and then buy a ticket ASAP before it sells out!) If you plan on making it a very late evening, a bed or room can be reserved at the New Paltz Hostel. We will meet at the Highland entrance on the west side of the river in Highland NY (at 87 Haviland Rd., parking is allowed along the north side of the road). You can also take the Metro-North train from NYC to Poughkeepsie, and then follow the Walkway over the river to meet us.
