My Favorite Websites

This list is subjective and it's all mine. I'd call it a Top Ten but I don't necessarily always have ten sites I'm enamored of.

Snopes.com: Urban legends reference page
http://snopes.com/
Do you get email from friends or family that warns of something that just doesn't sound right? Check it out on this site and find out if it's true or not. They'll hate you for it.

Kids With Food Allergies
www.kidswithfoodallergies.org
This is the food allergy support group where I spend a lot of time. The people there are not doctors, and don't play doctors on TV, but they have been through a lot and are very helpful with information of What It's Really Like to deal with food allergies.

Food Additive Numbers (Australia and New Zealand)
http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/mediareleasespublications/publications/shoppersguide/foodadditivesnumeric1680.cfm What? 621 doesn't automatically mean MSG to you? What about 500? Does it mean bicarb to you?

Botanic Families
http://www.calgaryallergy.ca/Articles/English/botanical.htm
Here's where you see that not only is latex associated with bananas and kiwi but guar gum is realted to soy and chick peas.

SARC: Symmantec Anti-Virus Response Center
http://sarc.com/
This is like the Snopes of virus warnings or virus-like behavior. So someone sends you email warning you not to open certain messages, is it a real threat or is it one that is so old your anti-virus software will dela with it without breaking a sweat.

The SANS Institute: (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security)
http://www.sans.org/
A security organization run by computer professionals and for computer professionals. Their classes and meetings are not for the non-technical. They have a wealth of information on their website that is available for free to people who are interested in computer and network security.
