Produced and/or implemented various online projects, including Theory Research, VindigoStudios.com, ServerLinks.com, gregnadine.com, and The Lyot Project. Developed templates using DHTML and JSP for meetup.com.
Lead the development of an online document processing and notification system for Serverlinks.com, a legal services company. Designed the system architecture, including multiple complex user interfaces, a database of about 40 tables, and ten Perl modules. Set up and maintained Linux servers for production and development; installed and configured Apache, Perl, various Perl modules, PHP, MySQL, Analog.
Brought the Faith Online network of sites to launch by analyzing their existing system (a proprietary system in Apache/Mason) and then developing a production-level environment, which included installing and updating the necessary machines, software, networking, and security, and organizing a system of backups and log processing. Responsibilities also include third-party software integration, and system and site administration and troubleshooting.
Worked with other senior staff on major technical decisions and acted as Project Manager for the technical team. Created a server module which handled over a million/day XML communications with client-side applications. Designed and developed the company's initial system for archiving and reporting on standard server and proprietary traffic logs and led all further development of reporting software. Designed and implemented the company intranet to help structure and facilitate internal communication.
Worked closely with Product and Design directors and led the front-end technical team in producing three incarnations of Clickthebutton.com. This included the implementation and maintenance of a flexible system for co-branding the site with a proprietary templating system. Oversaw the development of a content management system for editorial areas of the website.
Responsibilities included CGI programming, shell scripting, server and system administration, database maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for the production staff. Designed and created a content management tool to optimize on-site production for hbo.com's coverage of Wimbledon 1999. Redesigned a scheduling application for the production staff to coordinate updates to the sites. Developed a system to archive a large collection of digital assets.
CGI programming in Perl, with an emphasis on regular expression composition for webcrawling.
Maintained a computer telephony system which delivered international faxes via e-mail. Installed the system and trained employees at sites in Taiwan and China. Responsibilities also included troubleshooting, and coordinating technical teams in development.
Selected by a Computer Science Department Instructor for independent research. Developed software which instantiates a robot design and simulates its interaction with an environment. The software was used as an interface for projects in the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence course, and as the basis for my senior thesis to investigate a simulated robot's accuracy by comparison to actual robot behavior.
Selected by the Cognitive Science faculty to create and maintain the department's website, tutor undergraduate students, and assist in the design and assessment of student projects.
