| In particular, I am interested in the following stories
which I have uncovered through other research: For some time I have known about the
Chester K. Steele stories and their appearance in DETECTIVE STORY MAGAZINE on the
following issue dates:
THE CRIME AT RED TOWERS (E.J. Clode, 1927)
5 parts, 4 Aug 1923-1 Sep 1923 (as "Circle
of Clues" ?)
THE HOUSE OF DISAPPEARANCES (Chelsea House, 1927)
7 parts, 22 Oct 1921-3 Dec 1921
THE GREAT RADIO MYSTERY (Chelsea House, 1928)
6 parts, 22 Jul 1922-26 Aug 1922
I believe that some of the James A. Cooper stories were serialized, especially:
SHEILA OF BIG WRECK COVE (Sully, 1922)
Serialized in 1921. Release signed 13 Apr
1921 and 11 Aug 1921.
The others may have been serialized as well but there is no mention of it on their
copyright pages. These are stories of the Cape Cod area and are neither mysteries
nor westerns, possibly romances?
Among the new items probably serialized in pulp magazines are:
"Mystery Ranch" (Leslie McFarlane as by "Thomas K. Holmes" ?,
release signed 15 Jun 1927, and probably appeared in WESTERN STORY MATAZINE an appropriate
time later (early 1928?). Probably not published as a book.
ISLAND RANCH (Chelsea House, 1927) (W. Bert Foster as by "Thomas K.Holmes"),
release signed 9 Mar 1922, probably appeared in WESTERN STORY MAGAZINE. Published in
book form by Chelsea House.
"From Farm to Wall Street" (John W. Duffield as by "Allen
Chapman"),outline given to Duffield 21 Jun 1923, release signed 1 Aug 1923, written
for TOP NOTCH MAGAZINE. Apparently no book publication.
