n.a.n is a moderated Usenet newsgroup that was created in August, 1989, as a special venue for circulation of Requests for Discussion (RFDs) and Calls for Votes (CFVs) in the Big Seven (which, in 1995, became the Big Eight) newsgroup hierarchies.

n.a.n is moderated by members of the Big-8 Management Board. As a general rule, posts made to n.a.n have followups set to news.groups.proposals, a moderated group created in November, 2006.
