Don't Break Your Windows
- Windows XP
- Control + Alt + Delete
- This brings up the Task Manager.
- Click on the Performance tab.
- The CPU Usage should be below 10% when no applications are open.
- Too many ICONS on the Desktop
- Create a folder on the desktop to contain your icons.
- Your computer will be ready for use quicker when you turn it
on, because only one icon will be loaded into memory instead
of 20 or 50.
- Go to Start menu/All Programs/Startup
- Right click and select delete.
- Startup should be empty if you don't want to use up memory.
- All your programs and applications will work fine.
- Internet Explorer
- Select Tools/Internet Options.
- Click on the General tab.
- Delete Cookies.
- Delete Files.
- Clear History - Set to 2 pages.
- Open My Computer folder
- Right click on C: drive and select Properties.
- Click on the General tab.
- Select Disk Cleanup.
- Click on the Tools tab.
- Select Defragment Now.
- Select Check Now.
