I spoke to Tony today, who's been incommunicado for a while, and found out that the lab has been swamped, that Tony is about to go on his first vacation in years, that he can't have a print for me until early January. I made a few uncomfortable noises and mentioned Rotterdam, which I still haven't heard from; Tony promised to have a screening for me on January 5, a few days before a print would be due in Rotterdam if I did get in. I'm sure most other filmmakers would find ways to apply more pressure than I've been applying--I wish I could bring myself to lie about festivals and deadlines, as these things make a difference to industry people. Instead, I find myself thinking that Tony works like a dog and probably really needs a vacation....
