I Miss Mommy--Did They Recast Her?

IMHO Column for All Soap Scoops.com

So Sonny is explaining to Michael that he cannot go see Mommy right now. That's because Mommy is being recast as we speak.

A friend of mine noted that Carly, as played by Jennifer Branson, looked like a "wild-eyed monkey"--which is accurate since that's how they wrote the character. I didn't mind Branson so much, but I don't like how justabout everyone in Port Charles these days seems sort of crazy. Carly is in
a mental health facility. Luke is always unbalanced. Skye is a center of self-loathing. Alan is obsessed with getting revenge on Sonny. Jax is a megalomaniac. Emily is a perpetual victim. Maxie is being stalked. The list is endless.

The show is completely devoid of fun lately. You would think the return of Anthony Geary from his annual vacation/Persephone lifestyle would liven things up,but so far, he's screwed over Skye in favor of Tracy and the promise of money, bawled out Lucky for wanting to get married, and told Lucas to stay away from women. "Richly ironic" since we all know that Lucas is going to be revealed to be gay. This comes as a relief to the time he seemed to be mooning over his cousin.

The show also has a high frequency of know-i-allism. Sam (Kelly Monaco) seems to have all the answers. Elizabeth keeps telling Emily, Nikolas, and Courteney what to do. Alan just told Emily's professors a lie, and they are set to expel here without even talking to her? Oy. Emily has many many answers for everyone also but is usually miserable.

Meanwhile, there seems to be one major player missing in action. Where is Bobbie? I don't even remember how many scenes Jackie Zehman had with Jennifer Branson's Carly. Why isn't Bobbie ever seeing her grandchildren? We see Durant and Mike, but no Bobbie? What gives?

In other news: This Ruiz psycho has more tattoos than anyone I have ever seen. Especially on a soap. Also, another know-it-all, Reese, is being given the axe. Why does GH hire these great actors and write these horrible, dark storylines? And everyone has musical beds. Makes no sense, even in soap land.
