Viva Cecile de Poulignac!


Reflecting on Nancy Frangione's 1989 return

I have always loved the character Cecile de Poulignac, and on Another World's reruns from late 1989 are showing her return in full swing. Nancy Frangione plays the role with such panache and humor, it's a pleasure to watch. Her chemistry with Cass is fantastic. Much more interesting, actually, than his chemistry with Frankie, who was to become his great love after the loss of Kathleen (who also returns from the dead, by the way).

The other day, Cecile was wearing a gold lammae number that was just completely... Cecile. Of course, she was the Queen of Tanquir.

I also love the reactions the other vets are having toward her. The other day, Felicia (Linda Dano) said cattily to Frankie that after the revolution put Cecile on ice for a while, the very thought of Cecile languishing in a cell somewhere helped Felicia drift off to sleep.

Cecile biting post-coitally into a banana to prove a point to Frankie was also priceless.

Cecile's time on Another World is limited, with returns around 1992, so enjoy her while you can.
