Kings & Things: German to English

This page last updated June 6, 1998

The German game publisher Pegasus has reissued Kings & Things, a Tom Wham/Doug Kaufman game originally published in the US by West End Games, and in the UK by Games Workshop. I'm told they haven't changed the rules, so all you need is a copy of the original rules in English.

But a lot of the fun in the game is the content of your rag-tag army - the naming of Things. Since all the counters in the Pegasus version are in German, this fun is reduced considerably if you aren't fluent in that language. (A lot of the fun has already been reduced, I confess, by changing Tom Wham's lovely art work on the original counters. While the new terrain hexes are very beautiful, the counter art just doesn't compare with the original, alas.)

At any rate, here are the original English terms for all of the counters. My thanks to Paul Boucher and Richard Forster for their help in correcting my original guesses. (I do not own the West End or Games Workshop versions of the game.)
