Registration Services On Contract.....
Need temporary collections/exhibitions assistance?
Find it here.
Purpose of this
site
It is sometimes necessary to hire someone on contract to perform functions that
might normally fall to the registrar at a museum, for example:
A call went out in February 2000 on the RCAAM
listserve and Museum-L for professionals with substantial experience. There
were over 75 respondents in two weeks time. Some responded for themselves, others
volunteered names. Many of the respondents are full-time museum registrars who
are glad to provide limited, but valuable assistance. Many respondents are willing
to travel regionally, nationally or internationally.

Note from Carol Farra: Many (but not all) condition reports in and for
European museums are done by freelance conservators. European job titles can
be confusing to Americans. A professional known as a "conservator"
in one country, may be known as a "restorer" in another. Also, in
France, for example, the title "conservator" is reserved for what
many know as "curator".
