REPRODUCTION FEES BY PRINT RUN
Only three institutions used Print Run as a basis for assessing fees, and each institution used a different means of splitting print run groupings. All data presented here represents the minimum print run (usually less than or equal to 5,000 copies).
The theory behind using print run to establish fees allows for the lending institution to assess fees in proportion to the size of the request. The institutions using print run schedules establish a minimum fee for commercial, non-profit, and scholar and then begin to increase that fee depending on the requested print run. For example, an institution that normally charges a commercial applicant $150.00 for interior color reproduction in a book at a print run of 5,000 or fewer, would charge $300.00 for l0,000 books, $450.00 for 15,000, and so on.
