Free Lunch?

I went into a nice little food shop on 7th Avenue in Brooklyn yesterday, lured by the "we now have soup" sign out front, and I asked the man for a 16 oz. soup. $3.50. I paid with a twenty, and when the man put my change in my hand, I felt a funny little clink to the coins. I took a look at what I had, and one of the quarters said 1956. I commented to the cashier that it was nearly as old as my mother.

Today I looked up the value of a 1956 quarter with no mint mark. One web page said "about $3, in any condition, due to the silver content (90% silver, 10% copper).

So if it just so happens that if it's actually worth $3.75, well, then I got myself a free cup of soup for lunch.
