The title, "Exposed on the Cliffs of the Heart," is from a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke.

Owens is a Yamaha Artist and was nominated for the Van Cliburn Commission 2005. She has received many awards and prizes including First Prize in the Miriam Gideon Competition for her chamber work "Messages for Raoul Wallenberg" and finalist in the Whitney Museum Two Piano Festival for "Pianophoria #3." Her music has been widely performed in Europe, the Far East, the U.S. and Canada, most recently in New York City, Spain, Portugal, Dubai, Turkey, The Netherlands and Tokyo.

All of their concerts this season (even the ones in which they are not playing her music) are dedicated to the memory of Terry, the person and her legacy as a composer.

Composer / Pianist Scott Mayfield, who presented the world premiere of "Rhapsody from the Fabric of Spacetime" in February 2008, has posted three pieces from that concert on his new myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/connvolution21.

We are sad to announce that Terry passed away on July 31st, 2007 after a long illness. More information on this will be posted in coming weeks. Her daughter, Maggie, will continue to maintain her email address and web page and will promote her music as avidly as ever.

Multi-talented filmmaker, playright and singer Omonike Akinyemi has asked Owens to provide incidental music for her new musical "How to Stay Sane in Paris." Please see the performances page for details.

"Rendezvous with Hyakutake" from the CD "Exposed on the Cliffs of the Heart" performed by Francisco Monteiro, will be featured on NPR's "Open Mic" and will be available as a podcast. Date and URL to be announced.

"Supernova" for solo flute and narrator, exquisitely performed by Nina Assimakopoulos on the CD "Points of Entry," has been issued by Capstone Records. The poem is on Track 11, the music on track 12. The American Recorder Society published "Lay Your Shadow on the Sundials" for three recorders. Release date May 2006.

In a review of "The Bending of the Light" in the New Music Connoisseur, Peter Kroll writes: "Owens makes creative use of movement with lines, colors and harmonies. The piece had an endless feel to it that I believe relates to the phenomenon that inspired it. Monteiro captured the subtleties in the work very well."
