The mouse still shows no interest whatsoever in the traps. Michael thinks it is too big to fit inside, suggests looking for something larger. Larger live traps cost $50 and up and appear to be geared for outside use on gophers and similar garden pests. The obvious alternative, a lethal trap of the snap-bang variety, won't work because there is nowhere to put it where the mouse might encounter it but the humans can't possibly step on it by mistake.

In a spirit of scientific inquiry, I bought a gadget which allegedly drives rodents away with obnoxious electromagnetic waves in the house electrical wiring. It sounds snake-oil-ish but it comes with a bunch of references to studies of its effectiveness, and a 60-day money-back guarantee.
