| Japonica
18-6-98 Alexander Lee Japonica has good sushi. They have some of the best in the area, and daily have specials that you can't find anywhere else in the neighbourhood. While I really like the food, and the paper lanterns are cool, I go there very infrequently. Why? Well because it is expensive, and very yuppified. I'd say an average meal for me there with appetizer, main course, deseart and drink runs in the area of $40.00 to $50.00 a head. If you really have money to blow, the have a traditional tatami room, but you have to reserve in advance for minimum of 4 people, and you have to order set meals, starting at about $125.00 a head. Needless to say, I have never eaten in their private room. Another reason I haven't gone there is because I found that late at night, when they are closed, and the staff is eating their dinner, when I walk by, they sometimes rubberneck at the wierd long-haired asian guy walking by. I don't think that this (which has happened more than a few times) is very endearing. |
