Which web service do you have?

Your domain or ours?
Our domain: your personal web page
Your domain
Cheap-web
Standard, Advanced, Developer Web
Dedicated Web

Every Panix account includes an (optional) web page. Instructions for making data available on your site will differ depending on the kind of service you have.

Your domain or ours?
Our domain
Every shell account includes a web space in the www.panix.com domain. The URL for that page, for someone with the username example would be
www.panix.com/~example
Your own domain
You can use your own domain name for web pages hosted on Panix, at several levels of service.
Cheap-web
Cheap-web service pairs any of our standard shells with web and mail service for your domain. Cheap-web is sufficient for most uses. Full details are available on the Cheap-web service page, or check the comparison chart.
Standard Web, Advanced Web, Developer Web
These web services include features that are especially useful to business customers. Along With the web site in your domain, you get an upgraded shell with more storage space and transfers than with Cheap-web, as well as 10 mailboxes, each with 6 GB of disk space. Full details are available on the Standard Web, Advanced Web, and Developer Web service pages, or check the comparison chart.
In addition, if you choose to do so, you can point your personal web URL at any one of your domain-based websites, so, for example, www.panix.com/~yourname will be the same site as www.yourdomain.com
Dedicated Web
Dedicated Web Service provides you with a server for your exclusive use. You can have root control of your server if you wish, and, of course, you have a great deal of bandwidth, storage, and/or processing power available as needed.
Full details are available on the Dedicated Web service page, or check the comparison chart.
Any of the above services allow you to have more than one web site (not just different domains - different data presented) using the same shell account. Support for a single domain is included with Cheap-web and Standard web, but you can add others. 3 domains are included with Advanced Web; unlimited domains are included with Developer Web.
Web data for all of these services is stored in a folder on the web server that you access from the shell servers through a symbolic link in your home directory. For newer accounts, that symlink will be webspace, within which you will find the folders for your different domains, and perhaps one called 'personal_web' - the default folder name for your personal web space. Older accounts may instead have symlinks called either public_html or corp-web.
