We returned to the same Uzbek grocery store we went to another
time. This time we stopped at an Uzbek/Russian restaurant
first. We had herring with potatoes, carrot salad, kebabs,
and manti, which are large dumplings filled with lamb and
onions. It was all very good and perfect for the chilly
weather. As you can imagine we had leftovers.
The restaurant (in the lower left of the picture) is pretty
close to the beach and we could see the ocean from the subway
station, which is above ground in this part of Brooklyn.
Afterwards we went to a Russian bakery and got two kinds of
cake, the labels were in Russian but I think one of them is
a honey cake. They were good in any case!
We stopped at the Uzbek grocery store to get plov, which is
the same rice pilaf we got there last time. We also got samsi,
which are meat filled pastries.
