Ogilvy & Mather Direct And Mecklermedia Form Strategic Business Partnership In Developing MecklerWeb

O&M Direct's Interactive Marketing Group To Design Graphical User Interface For "High Level Domain Areas" of MecklerWeb, A Commercialized Area/Directory of the Internet

INTERNET WORLD, SAN JOSE, Calif., June 1, 1994 -- Ogilvy & Mather Direct is helping to pioneer the marketing applications of the Internet with the launch of MecklerWeb, a new Internet-based corporate communications and marketing system announced today at Internet World.

Ogilvy & Mather Direct's Interactive Marketing Group and Mecklermedia have formed a strategic business partnership to develop MecklerWeb. In addition, DEC and EIT are Mecklermedia's strategic technology partners in the MecklerWeb initiative.

"Our shared vision is to help our clients create valuable, information rich presences on the Internet," said Meredith Flynn, Vice President, Account Director of Ogilvy & Mather Direct's Interactive Marketing Group. "This new platform will not destroy present Internet protocol with intrusive and abusive junk e-mail messages. With MecklerWeb, we are creating on-line brands for our clients that engage and inform their customers," Ms. Flynn added.

Ogilvy & Mather Direct's role in the creation of MecklerWeb is to design and create the graphical "look and feel" of high-level domains -- the main public areas of MecklerWeb.

Among the first marketers to participate on MecklerWeb will be Scudder Investor Services, Inc. which will feature a sampling from its family of Scudder Mutual Funds. The on-line Scudder presentation will initially include a brief description of Scudder and its services, a list and detailed desciptions of a number of Scudder Mutual Funds, and an application file which can be downloaded.

Founded in 1983, The Interactive Marketing Group is the marketing pioneer of the burgeoning interactive industry. From the first videotex experiments in the early 1980s, to the current interactive TV trials, IMG has amassed unrivaled experience in creating computer-based marketing programs.
