The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain (Christopher Monger)

Rating: 2.5

I like this film a lot conceptually--when I heard the premise, I laughed
aloud--but its execution, unfortunately, leaves a lot to be desired.
There are some fun moments, but much of the whimsy seems forced;
moreover, Hugh Grant's mannerisms are beginning to get on my nerves,
though I've been a fan of his since 1987. The unnecessary romance
between Grant and Tara Fitzgerald is an outright bore--"Who cares," I
kept wanting to cry out, "get back to the townspeople!" When the film
was working, I enjoyed myself immensely, but when it wasn't, it was as
tedious as anything I've seen this year.
