Mute Witness (Anthony Waller)

Rating: 2.5

For about an hour, this was one of the best nail-biters I'd seen in
several years, despite numerous implausibilities; at about reel four,
however, it lost its moorings and became ridiculous, tedious and shrill
(and still implausible). I almost want to recommend it for one long and
impressive sequence in the beginning, which is worthy of De Palma at his
peak, but I don't think I can in good conscience claim that it's "worth
the price of admission." Marina Sudina does a fine job as the title
character, especially since she's playing a gimmick. A good try.
