Nockamixon State Park
Quakertown, PA

The park contains hiking, bicycling and horseback riding trails. Horses can be rented from stables near the park.

For overnight accomodations, the park contains a Youth Hostel and it rents cabins. The cabins are modern, heated, and contain full bathrooms and kitchens. (You must bring your own sheets, pots and pans.)

Driving directions: Take Interstate 78 West through New Jersey to exit 11 (the most direct way to I-78 from New York is from the Holland Tunnel). Then follow these directions from Mapquest:

1. Merge onto NJ-173 W via EXIT 11 toward W PORTAL/PATTENBURG. (0.3 miles)
2. Enter the next roundabout and take the second exit onto CR-614/PATTENBURG RD. (2.7 miles)
3. Turn LEFT onto CR-579/BLOOMSBURY RD. (0.2 miles)
4. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto HICKORY CORNER RD. (2.7 miles)
5. Turn LEFT onto LITTLE YORK MT PLEASANT RD/CR-631. (0.2 miles)
6. Turn RIGHT onto MILFORD MT PLEASANT RD/CR-519. (2.6 miles)
7. Turn RIGHT onto CR-519/FRENCHTOWN RD/CR-14. (0.1 miles)
8. Stay STRAIGHT to go onto BRIDGE ST (Crossing into PENNSYLVANIA). (0.3 miles)
9. BRIDGE ST becomes FRENCHTOWN-MILFORD RD. (0.1 miles)
10. Turn SHARP RIGHT onto RIVER RD/PA-32. (4.5 miles)
11. RIVER RD/PA-32 becomes EASTON RD/PA-611. (5.1 miles)

1. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto DURHAM RD/PA-412. (0.6 miles)
2. Turn LEFT onto MOUNTAIN VIEW DR/PA-563. (4.2 miles)

1. Continue on RIVER RD/PA-32 (1.3 miles)
2. Turn RIGHT on S PARK RD (4.6 miles). The last time I visited the park, the intersection of PA-611 and S Park Road was not well-marked. It is the first right after Foellner Lane. If you pass Durham Road, Creamery Road or Geigle Hill Road, turn around--you missed it.
3. Turn RIGHT at STOVER MILL RD (0.3 miles).
